Cory
is a Classroom Instructor at Auburn High School in Auburn,
AL as well as serving as the Vertical Team (School System
Social Studies Departments) Leader.
Cory serves as a mentor teacher for the Persistent Issues
in History Workshop and is primarily responsible for presenting
materials that are designed for actual classroom implementation.
He also discusses his "real life" experiences
of teaching students using the web-based tools and resources
available in the PIH environment.
Cory's
academic research interests focus on thoughtfully integrating
visual documents into secondary instruction as well as designing
technology-supported environments to promote higher-order
thinking in students. He has also authored or coauthored
four manuscripts related to his research interests. He is
currently seeking his doctorate in social studies curriculum
and teaching at Auburn University.
Prior
to his current position in the Auburn City Schools, Cory
was a classroom teacher in LaGrange High School; LaGrange,
Georgia, from 1998-2001 and taught a social studies methods
course at Auburn University in Auburn, AL in 2001.
Cory
is an active member of his parish community of the St. Anne's
Catholic Church, Columbus, Georgia. He is a volunteer S.A.Y
(St. Anne Youth Group) leader and leads the Wednesday night
bible study for teens as well as the Saturday night bible
study for young adults.
