Jay joined the PIH staff in June 2006. His primary obligations include assisting in various aspects of the Persistent Issues in History (PIH) summer seminar, coordinating PIH Lesson Study activities, and editing PIH video cases.
Prior to returning to Auburn, Jay was employed at Eagles Landing High School in McDonough, Georgia where he taught World History and World Geography for 5 years. Beyond his teaching duties, Jay served as the 10th grade SGA sponsor, as a member of the Building Advisory Team whose purpose was to advise the administration, as a member of the 9th Grade Transition Team, and on various other media and technology committees.
Aside from his responsibilities associated with the PIH Project, Jay supervises pre-service teachers in the Secondary Social Science Education program. He also works as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in Auburn’s College of Education Distance Ed program where he manages the technology associated with the classes.
Jay graduated from Auburn University with a B.S. degree in Secondary Social Science Education in 2001. He is married to Bethany. Together they have a daughter and a son.
